Merry, Bright, & Light (Fest)

If you know Camp Harmony, then you know about our Christmas Light Fest that we put together every December. Each year, there is a new theme that we focus on. This year's theme is Merry and Bright, which is centered around that classic Christmas feel. This past weekend was our first Light Fest of the season! Even with the snow, we had a good turnout! There's nothing quite like getting to see people step (or drive) onto camp to experience the joy of Christmas through lights and decorations. We see such a wide variety of visitors here for this event: families with kids, couples, friend groups, dogs, and even the occasional cat.

Friday nights are our walk through nights, where people are able to experience a little bit more than just driving through the lights. Kids can meet Santa and Mrs. Claus, make their own ornaments, and get their faces painted. There's a photo booth for fun and silly group pictures, and space to hang out in Faith Hall, enjoying the decorations, snacks and hot drinks, and, of course, the warmth of the building. When you venture up to main camp, you are greeted by our many themed and decorated cabins and buildings. This evening allows you to take your time to walk around and enjoy the lights and music. If you choose to come on a Friday night, you have the opportunity to experience our Light Fest in more detail, enjoying some activities not offered on Saturday nights.

Now, this doesn't mean that Saturday drive through nights aren't also full of fun! For those like me, who struggle to keep warm on these cold winter nights, the drive through is a great option. If you choose a Saturday night, you get to enjoy the same lights and music, without ever leaving your car! These nights allow you to drive onto camp, have snacks and hot drinks hand-delivered to your car, and then make your way through main camp to see the sights. This is a great evening of fun from the comfort of your vehicle.

Whichever night you choose to attend, you are in for a treat. That being said, there are only two more weekends of Light Fest! Christmas is fast approaching (can you believe it?), and we would love to see you here! We hope that this event is something that brings joy and laughter, but also points you to Jesus. It is so easy to get caught up and distracted in this season. Maybe you're like me and only have one free evening in the next two weeks. Maybe you're overwhelmed by all that comes with Christmas - the gifts, the food, the traveling, whatever it may be. Maybe Christmas is a hard time for you and you just want to get through it. Whatever it is you're facing right now, our prayer here at Camp Harmony is that you're able to take time to remember why we even celebrate Christmas. It's possible you've heard the story of Jesus' birth over and over again, or maybe you've never heard this incredible story. Either way, we simply want you to know that the God of the Universe loves you so much that He sent Jesus, His beloved and only Son, to Earth so that you could know Him and be saved by Him. In the midst of everything going on this December, we encourage you to take the time to read this beautiful story of love (Matthew 1:18-25; Luke 2:1-21). We hope to see you for Light Fest, but most of all, we hope that you have a blessed Christmas season, and are able to reflect on the goodness of God as we close our 2024. We are so thankful for each and every one of you.
